Tradition (Hildegard's writings)

In Hildegard's tradition, badger fur was associated with external use for circulation and warmth (for example with cold feet) and for complaints of the back and joints.

Note

Traditionally the fur was worn against the bare skin.

Background

The stimulus to the skin is passed on to the brain as a fine impulse; it is credited with circulation-promoting and pain-easing properties.
