Tradition (Hildegard's writings)

In Hildegard's tradition, burdock leaf wine was associated with the urinary tract.

Ingredients

About ten burdock leaves (Arctium lappa), wine.

Preparation 1

Boil the leaves in wine for five minutes, strain them through a cloth and use the wine warm.

Note

Contains alcohol. Not for children, pregnant or breastfeeding women.

Botanical background

The great burdock is known by its hooked fruit heads; its root contains inulin.
