In Hildegard's tradition, bay berries were associated with the head and stomach; externally they were also mentioned for the care of the skin.

Bay berries (Laurus nobilis), essential oils and green bay oil.

Note

Green bay oil (“green drawing salve”) is used externally for the care of the skin. Caution: contact allergies are possible — test it on the back of the hand first.

Botanical background

A green fatty oil is pressed from the berries, alongside essential oils; bay berries are traditionally used for flatulence, as a remedy for the stomach and intestines and as a diuretic.
