Tradition (Hildegard's writings) 1

In Hildegard's tradition, galangal electuary was associated with the heart and circulation.

Ingredients

Galangal, marjoram (oregano), celery seed, white pepper and honey.

Preparation 1

Pulverise and mix 6 g galangal, 12 g marjoram, 12 g celery seed and 4 g white pepper. Bring 400 g of honey to the boil in a pot, skim off the foam, let it cool a little and stir the powder mixture into the still-warm honey.

Note

Keeps for several months when stored in a cool place.
