From the whole kernel, cold-rolled. For our fine spelt flakes we cold-roll the whole spelt kernel, germ included, into thin flakes. The grain stays complete and the flakes soften quickly.
Fine, coarse or instant flakes?
- Fine – soften quickly; ideal for porridge, patties and baking.
- Coarse – more bite; ideal in muesli.
- Instant flakes – almost dissolve; for porridge and creamy soups.
For baking: Fine flakes absorb liquid evenly and make wholemeal baked goods light. They can replace part of the wholemeal flour or meal in a recipe.
Which size? 1 kg to get to know them, 4 kg as a breakfast supply, 20 kg for large households.
